6th Week Progress Videos!

~If you are new to my blog, let me update you on my current project with my students and my children… About 6 weeks ago my two children each decided to learn a song that was beyond their current piano capability. The story about why they did this and their first recording with their songs are found on the left side of this page, toward the bottom under the heading: Where’s Lisa and then under that is a link called: Follow Kid’s Progress. You can go to that link to catch up (and keep up) with this ongoing story! ~smile~ As this story continues, last night, about midnight, Jasmine tells me she’s ready for her next progress recording.. Needless to say, at midnight, I was already in bed and though I was awake with my lights on, I still told her to wait til morning. By now, you probably figured out that she is my persistent child, who thinks 11 years old is every bit as capable as anyone else, so she decided to get the camera out, place it on the counter next to the piano and recorded herself. Here is her 6th week progress video for her song, Cristofori’s Dream, by David Lanz: Meanwhile, my 15 year old, Jacob, is coming right along… if you listen to his past two recordings of Dark Horse by David Lanz, and compare it to this recording you will not only see that he learned more of his piece, but you will also notice a marked improvement in timing, tempo and finger movement throughout the whole song up to this point. Yesterday I heard him through my closed door get up out of his piano seat and yell, “Yes!” I think that means he was happy with his progress! ~smile~ As before, my children look forward to your comments, I know it is helping them stay on track! Please feel free to leave your comments for them below:

    Hi Jasmine,

It is wonderful to enjoy your performance. Compare with your first one, Jun 5th, (I can’t open your second performance on July 6th) you have gotten a lot on the reading knowledge and the fingers movement. I believe that your mommy is very happy to see your progress. Keep up your job. I am waiting the next performance.

    Thank you for the sharing.

I was about ready to give up playing the piano because I thought I would never be able to achieve this goal. After watching both of you play, I have decided that it is well worth the effort to learn. I love to hear you play, and am amazed at the progress you have made. Starting today, I am back at the piano. Thanks so much for the inspiration.
