  3. Mercy says:

Sorry for the late reply, was quite busy these few days. Anyway, thank you very much for your labor. I really enjoyed the lessons.

  4. Christel says:

    Dear Lisa,

Thank you so much for all your effort and enthusiasm. For the moment I´m staying in our small summer-house and have not access to the internet and computer (hence the late answer) so I will have a lot to do when autumn arrives and I´m back in town :-) . We have a small keyboard though so I and my son are practising other songs….

  5. kim avery says:

i thank you so much for all of your free music, not just because they are free but also that they are in numbers, i have a hard time with reading sheet music. i really like the Battle Hymn and am glad you gave it to those of us who can’t afford right not to be a paid members. and thank you for the informational videos they help so much.

  6. I enjoyed everything about the video of The Battle Hymn of The Republic. Your lessons are not only enjoyable but interesting for learning purposes.
I just wish there were more free sheet music samples as free downloadable sheet music that is virus free is hard to find. I’d play the piano more often if I had more music to view.

  7. Dr. Dan says:

    Dear Lisa,

The song was great. I played it through on the first attempt.

    Thanks

  8. Shubha says:

    Dear Lisa
Don’t know if I said this before but you are a true motivator and teacher. Am signing up for the lifetime membership!

    Thanks for being you. ;-)

  9. Jenny says:

    Thank you Lisa
I really enjoyed the new song that you sent to me. I hope that I will receive more songs as well as free lessons to sharpen my skill on playing piano. The practice was wonderful

  10. Darren Brown says:

Am not sure what happened to my comments. But want to say that as I have pulled out the keyboard and started the free lessons, this has brought our kids together to also learn they practice more than I do. Thank you for all you do, and your husband for helping you. May God continually keep his hand and protection on you.

  11. Darren Brown says:

    Hi Eliza,

I guess I can honestly say, thank you for your continued emails through this project. At first you start to think how am I going to ever learn this. I have always wanted to learn piano but could never afford lesson. When I did a search and found your site “What totally free!” there has to be a catch, and none found. I have gone through each session of the free lessons, I love the tips, videos, as well as your time and patience, I also appreciate that your husband was helping you that says alot about your self and family. May God continually bless you. This has been a great time, since pulling out my keyboard and doing these lessons, it has also started to bring all three of our kids together to play or learn the piano they are playing more or practicing more than I am which means you are the Bomb around here. Thank you always.

  12. Janet says:

Hi, Lisa, It is always a joy to receive new music. Since I am working on Lesson 7, I downloaded the sheet music. It appears that on the second page there are a lot of single notes below the bass clef. I’m going to try to figure it out, but some help would have been nice. But thanks, I’ll enjoy it.

  13. Nancy Gonzalez says:

Music for me is living in a magical and exciting world as it is art. Piano has been since i was born my favorite music instrument. Unfortunately, i have had a wall of obstacles which have avoided me to learn. Finding you Lisa has changed my life completely. I still don’t know everything but i have learned a lot with your free piano lessons. i went through all of them in one day and wish i had more. Thanks, I appreciate everything.

  14. Melissa says:

Thank you so much for the online piano lessons.

  15. ari suhonen says:

After reading other comments I want to tell, that I am 46 old (or young) man from Finland and I first started playing at the age of thirteen or so. I did’t have a teacher at that time. I only took a short class or tutorial, but it was more like an introduction and there wasn’t any theory, chord inversions etc.; just playing easy songs with ”fixed” chords. I guess I wasn’t ready to play then anyway so it just fell out in a few years. I started again when I was about 39 and tried to learn mainly by myself. I was also unemployed at that time. There was one little class that I took in local folk high school. Afterwards I bought a couple of notebooks with DVD:s and they still are in use. Online internet teaching is next step for me. We have piano lessons for adults in the folk high school, but they require piano or ”full weighted” (I don’t know if this is a right expression) keyboard. Private lessons are probably quite expensive and you’d have to be there on time too..:) The best thing is that I (like anybody) have made real progress in playing and I want to encourage anyone to learn anything they desire. I know I have always somehow understood music well – I just didn’t have the way to do it. Now I have and this also requires patience, which I’ve always lacked in the long run, and even some humility. All the best, Ari.

  16. ari suhonen says:

    Hi!

I didn’t know this song by the title but it turned out to be familiar melody. The best basis for practising for me is to hear the whole thing first. Then it’s much quicker to learn to play it. I can play any melody by ear, but when it comes to chords it’s a bit different – I guess you get them too by practising and learning to hear better too.
I have some experience in playing, so I haven’t used your free material so far, but after having some motivation issues I ordered your clumsy finger exercises that have helped me a lot. They really work. Anyway, this Battle Hymn is a good exercise too for both hands and especially the left hand walking part. I find it useful in blues and such that is fun to play for me. Jazz and improvising are something I want to learn. I only have a keyboard, pretty old and cheap Roland but it feels good (compared to some yamahas and casios that I have tested) – sounds are allright too and of course there is touch sensitivity. Thanks for being Lisa and everybody else.

  17. Marquan Buchanan says:

    Hi Mrs. Lisa,

My name is Marquan and I am twelve yrs. old. I will be turning thirteen this coming up Monday (July 12). I love the lessons! They are simple and easy to learn. After I was finished with Unit 1 I was looking on your website and saw the Children’s Piano Lessons. I told myself, “I don’t need those, the ones I am doing are simple enough!”

I enjoy playing the piano, but I had one problem. We couldn’t find a piano teacher who would charge us at a low price. A friend of ours told us that they were learning how to play piano on YOUTUBE. We tried it but the video kept stopping. Then we started looking on other people websites, but they didn’t help us at all. We were praising God that we finally found a teacher who would give me FREE piano lessons. Thank you so much!!! This is really helping me learn how to play the instrument I love!!! I will continue to practice daily with a smile on my face! God Bless YOU always!!!

  18. Dawn says:

I sing this song in church and watching your video has really helped me learn how to play piano better. You are a fantastic teacher. Keep up the good work.

  19. Thomas says:

i loved the song. am still trying to learn how to play the song. ive been playing the piano for 2 years now with ont a teacher but i do have you thank you very much am doing fine

  20. Renelda says:

    Hi Lisa,

I’m not actually familiar with the title but when I heared it that’s when I recognized it.
Anyway, the video helps a lot. Viewing how you played it, says a thousand things. Compared to only audio, it’s difficult to identify the notes, especially that I’m not good at hear and play. It also helps us see the timings if we are not familiar with the melody of the song.
    Please keep video-ing your lessons.

Your effort is greatly appreciated for beginners like me.

  21. brenda maze says:

hello lisa, thanks so much for the videos and free lessons, and songs. i am 53 years old and trying to learn to play piano, i’m using a keyboard, i don’t have a piano. so many folks think that i’m too old to learn the piano now, i hope one day i can prove them wrong.. i wish i could buy your lessons, but, because of my husbands health, i’ve had to quit work, for now. in april, his doctor told us my husband has prostate cancer, they can’t do surgery at this time, because we just found out out a few weeks ago, he has to have the vale in his heart replaced first.. but, i know god will take care of it all, i put my faith, and trust in him fully. i hope later on i can purchase your lessons.. you make it easy to understand, and i not the smartest person in the world, but, i think i’m doing pretty good with what i have. thanks again, for everything, god bless you and your family, smile…

    Hi Lisa!
Thank you so much for the online piano lessons. I recently received a free 88 Key Roland keyboard, but had not touched a piano since I was 10 years old. Now at the age of 37, I am amazed at how easy your lessons are compared to what I had learned so long ago. Your approach, pace, and methods make it easy for me to learn. I made it through your free lessons in less than an hour and have been practicing ever since. THANK YOU!

    Dear Lisa,
I am a 60 years old man and some years ago I bought my 61-keys Yamaha. I love good music and I

decided to selflearn playing piano so much as I could. But then I found out that I have total

problems with playing because of I had not enough sense of rhythm and hearing. Thus I learned

some basic music theory what got me great pleasure as a mathematician, but what I discovered about piano fingering discouraged me completely.
Your online piano lessons were great surprise for me with plenty of ingenious drills, nice pedagogic and love what makes me feel just like a child. Bow to the ground, I thing, you are blessed by God! Thank you!
I should like to learn more from you and put it in practice, but for the present I am trying to be more organized and orderly, so my advance is slow but gives me hope and pleasure.
I am sorry for my bad english, but I am never used it in live and if there is lack of mathematical formulae I use dictionary. Thus I am happy with your video and pictures, but in audio you are my online english teacher too!
Again, dear Lisa, thank you for these wonderful free lessons and for your love and ~smile~

    Hi

I find the lesson very simple and easy to understand – you make the piano seem so friendly that one can’t wait to play more.

And yes – all said practice is what makes one perfect. But you take us closer to it.

    Thanks

  60. Oscar cifuentes says:

Lisa, I do really appreciate the free lessons, I just wish I could have the time to try them, I have been looking to learn to play the piano for a very long time, but every time I can not find the time to do it, I am a 56 year old man and still feel I can learn, but no time. Thanks a lot again and God Bless You.

  61. Mary says:

Thanks for providing the sheet music. I prefer this to the Instant Play documents. Please do this for all bonus songs!

  62. michael cook says:

i am disappointed with the “clumsy finger” offer.

all i seem to have is a large number of finger exercises when i purchased the “offer” it seemed to offer more than this

did i miss out on the lessons?

  63. Claudine says:

    Dear Lisa,
I am writing to you from Paris to let you know that I have thoroughly enjoyed this video. As i am trying to read more and more music sheet especially the bass Clef i found it very helpful to be able to refer to the instant play music sheet. The other helpful thing about this video was the hand positioning and switching between Chords. I need to practice some more especially the left hand but otherwise your instructions were very clear.
What i would like to know is if there a possibility to play the chords in Aperggio instead of the full chord?
    Thanks a lot!

  64. Ralurar says:

    Hello Lisa,
thank you very much for what you do for us. Is very easy to learn in this way. I like patriotic songs, children songs … all songs. Thank you.

I my self am new to music, had bought a used Casio CT-700 for my kids (myself), kids are Girl 6+ Boy 11. We are all beginners and i myself got somewhat frustrated and was about to quit. Then I came across your site, got registered and am on go since along with my kids. This has made our lives melodious, as we three do the music together and have a quality time together.

  68. gul says:

thats really really nice to learn and play it then

  69. Rachel says:

Thank you Lisa for what you do. I love how you teach and explain everything. You are a very good teacher and very helpful too. I once took violin because I wanted to learn to play “Canon” and my teacher, though he was good, had a lot of students and he would confuse what he taught me and what he didn’t. I would feel bad for not knowing what he didn’t teach me!! Thank you for you! God bless you♥

  70. john coultish says:

Lisa, I think your whole operation is terrific. I am struggling to find time to do it at the moment, but I will, I will

  71. patapon says:

thank…but i cant play as fast you played…

  72. Raymond says:

    Lisa,

The learning exercise is great. I think this is the best I have seen. The voice clarity and the sequential steps can easily elp an amateur to pick up the lead. The link fo rthe sheet music seems to be broken. You may like to set it right

    Thanks once again.

  73. rama says:

dear lisa, thks for all the free lesson, just to let you know that the way you teach is the best on the internet, better than all the paid lesson, which most are only for bussiness, keep it up all the lesson were easy and clear.
    all the best rama

    God bless us all.

many thanks for the free lessons and the course as a whole.
I note that Mike Ewoldt at 10:30 am boasts of his starting age. Good luck to you, youngster – how about 70? Yep, born Feb 4, 1940 and taking yet another try at learning piano – this time with rather more success thanks to the internet and this site
hope this doesn’t duplicate – the form just simply came back empty – what’s going on with it?

  82. Marina Vigovsky says:

Thank you so much :) I really enjoy being able to play :D

  83. myfanwy says:

Lisa,I appreciate the free lesson, thank you. I’m not the best at using the computer, and the videos dont work very well on my machine, but having the score is great, I will copy it onto manuscript paper and try it later. I requested the free lessons ages ago, but never got the hang of how to find them! Best wishes.

  84. Crystal says:

    Dear Lisa,

You have a warm and wonderful way of teaching that would make anyone want to learn to play the piano.

Your professionalism doesn’t override the human touch that you convey both with voice and your videos.

Another aspect that impresses me is your ability to anticipate the technical difficulties we might have and then address them ahead of time.

Your sheet music is easy to read and print out. Thank you for making the notes large enough to read so we don’t need a magnifying glass.

Thank you for a non-condescending attitude when teaching and also for making your instructions very clear and easy to understand.

You are the first teacher I know of who not only offers free lessons but sends them via email. I’m not even sure where to go to get the paid lessons. ~smile~

Lisa, what can I say? – Your videos are great and we think you’re wonderful.

    Warmest wishes,

    Crystal :)

  85. Gail says:

I started teaching myself to play several years ago and then my son moved and took his piano. We just bought a used Kimball console and I’m trying once again. Your lessons are very helpful. I seem to have trouble with my left hand but I’m just starting over so I know I need more practice.

  86. Valerio says:

It is ease as 1-2-3 ! It makes sense and I don’t have to learn the notes and besides I am not aiming to be a pro, just a recreational ! Thank you Lisa !

  87. allison says:

I don’t have much experience when it comes to playing the piano, but thanks to your awesome lessons, I’ve learned that playing the piano can be a lot of fun! I especially like the way you guide us through each of the lessons.

  88. Connie Davies says:

    Great lesson.

I would like to be able to download the videos so I can watch them when I am doing the lesson. It would make it easier for a beginner to follow along and listen to the sound multiple time.

My husband was impressed that he could recognize the melody.

    Thanks again.

  89. I am always happy to hear from you. I am happy to be able to play this patriatic song in honour of our troops. Thank you for the sheet music. Thank you for helping me to learn the piano so easily. I will continue to practise every day.
