Enjoy learning how to play the Battle Hymn of the Republic. The videos are shown using the Instant Play Sheet Music. Instant Play Sheet Music is written in diagrams of the piano showing you where to place your fingers to learn this song fast and easy! No “note” reading necessary!
For those who know how to read music, I have included the sheet music download as well… (no video needed for those who know how to read the sheet music.)

Thanks so much for the free song. My daughter and I are enjoying learning to play it together. So far we have found all of your lessons to be great. Your instructions keep things simple which helps confidence grow!
Thanks so much for the free lessons. We are so enjoying them!
Joanna and daughter Allie
I really enjoyed this lesson because you break it down so much that i can really understand what you’re doing.
Thanks!

Lisa, Thanks so much for all your help. I love how you teach, I have learned so much! This song was great and easy to learn. I never played any instrument before, but I always wanted to play the keyboard or piano. This is great therapy for me, and at 62 I am learning to play music and not just on a radio! LOL
Thanks again
Sandy
Hello Lisa Mam…
Thanks for everything……
Hi Lisa …everything about your instructions was great .the only thing was ,i didnt know where to place my left hand . didnt know how far away from middle C ..thats the only feedback i have ….
thanks
Very nice indeed. Your lesson was easy to understand and do using numbers for fingers; however I personally would like to learn the notes on a page – a c d, excetra along with the finger numbers. This way I would be learning not only to play what you present but would learn to play any sheet of music I happen to pick up by reading the musical notes. Thanks for the lesson.
I’m an occasional pianist, and I’m always glad when I can carve out some time to play. Thanks for the “Battle Hymn.” It got me going again, and I was gratified at how much I remembered from prior practice.
Thank you Lisa. You made playing the piano seem easy. Now, I am practising and smiling more often
I have very little piano experience. Your instructions are very easy to understand. I was able to play the song with my right hand fairly quickly. I will keep practicing the left hand. I really appreciate the videos. They help me see the finger changes and then I can play it easier. Thanks for making piano playing so enjoyable!! You are a wonderful piano teacher!! May God bless you!
Very help video good teaching lisa
Don’t think my message went through. I just need to spend more time on your site. I haven’t played in about 20 years, but I do have a Yahama keyboard now. I took lesson for about 8 years, and now I need a refresher course.

I just need to spend more time on this site. Looking for a refresher course. I haven’t played in about 20 years, but I do have a Yahama keyboard now.

Great choice for the 4th! Now that I’m putting the time in, this starting to work!
I was so keen to learn piano yet i failed every attempt to play even a simple song. Not until i found your website! Thank you for developing this websites to help beginners like me to get a head start on how to play the piano! You have help people like and i would like to congratulate you for doing such helpful websites!
I am a little older than most students trying to learn to play the piano and your videos and lesson so far have made it very simple for me- Not bad for an old fart of 56.
Thanks for your free lesson. I would appreciate if you can send me the sheet music of “Heart and soul”
I love the way you put numbers above the words for the notes. I don’t read music well but I have been typing for years and somehow my brain relates better to the seeing letters and numbers then it does to seeing musical notes on a scale. Thank you so much.
I loved the fact that it was patriotic but simple enough for me to learn quickly! It was awesome to be playing a well known song and making it sound great! I didn’t like the insta-play as well as the sheet music. I also was confused about the numbers in perenthesis above the staff i.e.: (3), (4) Great song to learn!
i was wondering if u could send me songs like amazing grace , above all, at the cross, mighty to save .. i would greatly appreciate that … thanx!!
Thank you so much for this site and for giving others the inspiration to play! I have always played out of ‘fake books’. This is the only way I can learn. I am self taught. I am totally dyslexic and my eyes cannot follow melody notes and bass notes at the same time. I get a migraine like you would not believe! I am going to keep on practicing though. And yes, I am smiling…….
Hi Lisa, u really inspire me with these songs ta where i can print them off !!!
Really, I have never thought that someone can learn to play piano online, but your method showed me that it is possible. Your lesson is very easy to understand. I practice the lessons on my electronic keyboard everyday.
Only thing I was confused is that chords on your lesson were written up to down , but it seems to me that chords are written left to right on most note sheets. Could you please explain us about it? Is there any difference between them?
Many thanks for your lessons. It is really helpful for all.
If this is the way you teach all lessons, ANYBODY CAN LEARN. I will be signing up. Thanks !!!
thanks alot for the videos, with the little i’ve practiced, i’ve really seen great improvement in my piano skills.
i hope to receive more of your free lessons, especially lessons on Chords their names and their applications. can’t appreciate you enough.
Thanks, this is great and I am making steady progress.
Abraham
Hi Lisa,
Thank you for sharing your musical talent, piano skills and knowledge.
Being a visual learner, I find the color co-ordinated number system most helpful in preparing me before progressing to the sheet music. I’m learning to easily chord by using the chord reminders which are strategically and clearly indicated on the numbered fingering pages. I find that playing the song by using the fingering method is a great stepping stone to playing the sheet music.
I am progressing, albeit slowly. I need to continue to practice moving my right hand more smoothly to different positions on the keyboard.
A sincere thank you!
Theresa
dear lisa,
thank you again
mary
I just started with your lessons
I work long hours ,but enjoy the little bit of time I get in the evenings to practice.
I’m enjoying the lessons
Thanks
Hey Lisa,
The work that you do is truly appreciable. Though these links and the mails you send are not charged, the quality is never compromised upon. Excellent work! God bless!
Lisa, you inspire! The piece had just enough challenge for a beginner and you broke it down and made it easy to understand. Thank you. With every lesson I feel I am getting somewhere, albeit after some frustration! Lovely!
I love getting your free lessons. I was hoping you would put a video on that would cover exactly what the left hand plays on the sheet music, like you did with the right hand. I am teaching myself, and that would have been helpful to me. Other than that, I love that you posted this song. I have been looking for a version of this song that I can play. Thank you.
ur way of teaching is really easy and encouraging, it arouse my enthusiasm in further learning. I tried many free piano lessons online, but yours were the best, the easiest and the most organized. I can’t wait till i am legal to get my visa and buy ur lessons .. thx a lot

Great lesson videos. Explained well. I’m taking lessons now with a teacher, but this is so easy. Maybe I’ll switch! I like the way you explain all the changes in hand positions.
Very easy and quick to learn the song! I am enjoying the lessons! I think I might join!
Thanks to your help, support and reminder to smile, I have made some amazing progress in just a few short weeks. People are saying “I didn’t know Jeff played the piano.” Love it!
Grea lisa! Much more fun to learn songs! Festive for the time of the year! Keep the songs coming.
The beginning lessons are well planned. This style is perfect for the beginner. Of course, practice, practice, practice is the key. I do have a question. Many years ago when I received lessons, the teacher had me do something very different on the right hand. With your same numbering system for the fingers, she would have the thumb on middle C up to the little finger on G. But, when playing the scale, the thumb would replace the finger on F. So, the finger numbering up the scale from middle C would be 1,2,3,1,2,3,4,5. I am not sure if she was doing this as her own technique or if it was the proper way of playing the scale. Maybe I haven’t went far enough in the lessons. Yes, at some point in the future, I will be subscribing to your lessons. At the moment, I will be working only on the basics. And, you cover the basics perfectly.
Thanks
Dear Lisa,
Very appreciative of the free lessons. They are easy to understand and I hope you will continue giving the lessons on line. You have a natural talent to teach people of all ages. Thank you very much and hope to receive more.

Thank you for the free song and lesson. I love the Battle Hymn of the Republic. It was one that many years ago on a piano my Grandmother had, that I started learning to play by ear. Your lessons are so easy to play and understand.
Thank you again.
Lisa,
I purchased a piano before my first lesson and was very anxious. I wasn’t sure if I would ever really be able to play. But your approach to learning has been very simple, and I LOVE my piano. I enjoyed the new song, only wished it showed how long to hold each note/chord. Thankfully, I know the song, so maybe I got it close to right! Thanks again!
Thank you! The lesson was WONDERFUL! Easy to watch and follow. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to see your work and your lessons. I will be passing on your website information to other Homeschoolers I know. Thank you!
Thanks for the lesson…I am enjoying it very much..I like the sound of the train in the back ground. Now I know that you live close to a railroad.
God Bless.
Anne

mike
I need the finger position and how use left hand and choord.Thank you and big smille from CROATIA
Hi Lisa,
First of all I would like to thank you for all the e-mails and lessons you sent me! This lesson here was, like the other ones, very fun and easy to learn because of the way you do it. The way you show us how to play each cord at the right time, the sheet music, everything just makes the practice more fun and easy. You have really showed me that you have to enjoy practicing, even if it’s just a little each day. I was having keyboard lessons at a music school here in Brazil and after i started with your lessons, I changed to piano, because i think it is prettier and more classic than keyboard. It’s more difficult, but practicing and liking it makes it easier!
Thanks for everything!
Adriana Guimaraes

Dear Lisa,
It’s wonderful to hear from you, thank you for the free lesson. The Battle Hymn of the Republic is just a great song to play the day before the 4th of July. My favorite music is Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel. I love to play pop music such as The Wind Beneath My Wings. May we practice O Holy Night, so we can play it well when Christmas arrives!
Many thanks for the free lesson. I would appreciate if you plan to send any further free lesson, kindly remember me as I will really appreciate.
